Wow...I don't even know where to begin! o_O This is gorgeous! The time you must have spent in all that detailwork...gah. It certainly paid off in the end! I keep seeing something different everytime I look at this. Incredible shading on the bark and all those leaves and webs of cloth. Very clever design and a beautiful concept! It took me a moment to notice all the wispy fairies. The forest spirit/element (mask?) is a great touch, too...do you have a story behind that?

About the forest spirit... thing... I was looking through all teh referances and suck and notes about the charecter. There were a few peices that stuck in my mind. One thing was the "happiness is butterflies" quote, and another was the anaolgy that the 'forest guards him like a jealous lover'. The spirit is like a giant butterfly, and the pixies are having their fun and taunting him with the human mask. At the same time, the forest is pulling him back into itself, drawing him away from it.
Well, that was my thinking on it anyhow. Once again, thank you so much for the compliments. I am glad you like it!
